Guyzance Hall Wedding Photography, Northumberland – Emma & Jez

November saw Emma and Jez get hitched at the wonderful Guyzance Hall in Northumberland. The day started out a bit drab (weather wise that is!) but finished of with one of the best sunsets I’ve seen in ages – see one of the last photos further down. In keeping with the stylish feel of the day I’ve included quite a few contemporary black & white images too. Spending the majority of the morning with Emma and her bridesmaids I make sure I get all the photos I need before running down to see Jez and the guys getting ready – as you can see it’s all very different with guys – less finesse, more speed!! Get some great shots and its back up to get the final last minute important shots of Emma – she looks great and I show her a photo to put her mind at ease. Guyzance Hall hosted the full day so it was just a short jog down the stairs to prepare for the ceremony. Afterwards the Northumberland weather brightens up allowing us to get all our formal wedding party photos outside, followed by the bride and groom wedding portraits around the grounds – Emma wore her wellies just in case. One of their favourite shots was the sunset photo which happened just at the end of their starter – it only took 2 mins though as I had everything already set up. The speeches (hilarious) took us right through to an amazing fireworks finale – simply stunning and it helped produce some really fantastic images. I look forward to my next Guyzance Hall Wedding! Wedding Photographer Photographed!

Attached to rather fantastic email I received from Jenny & Richard on their recent wedding at Dissington Hall in Ponteland was a few photographs from guests that managed to catch me shooting. Apart from the fact I’m probably better off behind the camera than infront of it!, it’s quite rare to get snaps of me working. On this occasion I actually remember the wedding photograph that resulted from my sneaky shoot through the doorway, so I thought I would post both images. The little chap in question is quite clearly a budding photographer in the making and at first I thought I might actually have some fierce competition on my hands – but he assured me it was just a hobby for him. He looks like he was quite pleased with his results – as was I too.

Dissington Hall, Ponteland – Jenny & Richard

Dissington Hall Wedding Photography

A generous late September gave Jenny & Richard a wonderfully bright and warm day to get married. Although their reception was held at the magnificant Dissington Hall in Ponteland, Northumberland – the ceremony was held at a lovely church in Rowlands Gill. Top hats and tails were the order of the day for the guys whilst summer blue was the running theme for the ties and bridesmaids dresses. I was very priviledged to be able to be able to capture the ceremony as the ministers standard rule is no photography at all – but he was aware of my style of photography and complimented me afterwards on my discrete way of capturing the cermony. A vintage double decker bus waited to take guests over to Dissington Hall for the reception. A champagne reception from the amazing staff at Dissington Hall greeted the guests and after both Jenny and Richard chatted to their guests for a little while we gathered the wedding party up to a room I had set aside so we could shoot the more formal wedding photos. Leaving enough time aside I took Jenny and Richard (champers in hand of course!) for a planned leisurely stroll around the stunning grounds so we could get some photos of the two of them. If you’ve been here then I don’t need to tell you how magnificent the surroundings at Dissington Hall are, and if you haven’t been it’s certainly worth a visit – especially if you’re planning a wedding in Northumberland! A wonderful day from start to finish. A big thanks to both Jenny & Richard for their warm hospitality – and a huge thanks to the staff at Dissington Hall for being friendly, cooperative and extremely organised. I look forward to my Dissington Hall wedding.

Horton Grange Country House – Jo & Paul’s Wedding

Last Friday I found myself at Horton Grange Country House again. This time shooting Jo & Paul’s wedding. Now if you’ve never been to Horton Grange it’s def worth a little visit – or even a bigger visit as the food is pretty amazing and the place itself is quite special. It’s an elegant Grade – II listed Country House with a real intimate charm about it and I’m sure thats why Jo & Paul chose it for their special day. A wonderful champagne reception welcomed all their guests and kept welcoming them until all the bottles were empty! Always good to see. Whilst waiting for the ceremony to creep up on us I took some less formal shots of Paul and his best man – and never needed to say ‘smile’ once! (Maybe the champage?!) Wasn’t long before everyone was called into the lounge for the ceremony start so I greeted Jo and her Father just outside – a quick comb of the hair (Jo’s dad that is!) and they were ready to walk down the aisle. Horton Grange is perfectly suited to cosy intimate ceremonies and this was no exception – even with a good few people it still feels private. After the ceremony all that remained for me to do was arrange and capture the formal wedding photography and get some nice relaxed images of Jo & Paul. My next Horton Grange Wedding will be slightly different in that I won’t be working and it will be my best friend’s wedding – really can’t wait for that! Congrulations to Jo & Paul. Here is a mini selection of images from the day.

Sarah & Andrew’s Wedding at Jesmond Dene House, Newcastle

A Jesmond Dene House Wedding. Sarah and her Bridesmaids got ready at the Malmaison at Newcastle Quayside. It’s a wonderful place to get ready as the reception has lots of photos opportunities from the quirky chairs, cool sofas and great lighting they have. Everyone was pretty relaxed and just had good giggle while getting ready. The wedding was held at St Andrew’s Church in Newcastle City Centre whilst the reception was at Jesmond Dene House. The Church itself is a bit of a hidden gem, I must have walked post it a thousand times but this is the first time I have captured a wedding ceremony there – and the inside is truly magnificent and def worth a look if you’re ever passing. A wonderful wedding ceremony saw the day off the a great start and from there we headed over to Jesmond Dene House for the wedding reception. Round the side of Jesmond Dene House provided a brilliant secluded space to capture the planned formal photos – lots of greenery and colourful flowers for the background. The various little nooks and characterful corners that Jesmond Dene House has in abundance provided some wonderful relaxed and romantic wedding photography of Sarah and Andrew. Whilst the Grand Hall hosted the speeches and reception for the remainder of the evening – a wonderful room with bags of atmosphere and great subtle lighting. Andrew did a cracking speech whilst his best man ensured everyone had tears of laughter once his turned arrived. Jesmond Dene House really is a great location for a wedding with amazing food – which reminds me I better use the vouchers up soon that somebody kindly got me for Christmas! Anyway…here is a very small selection of some of my faves from the day.
